Deck overview

This deck is an oppressive mono-black group-slug and combo strategy built around Sheoldred, the Apocalypse. The primary game plan accelerates Sheoldred onto the battlefield on Turn 3 or 4, leveraging black ramp and rituals. Once deployed, the deck transforms symmetric card draw into asymmetric punishment. Key engines like Teferi's Puzzle Box and Dark Deal force opponents to cycle through their hands while suffering massive, recurring life loss. Meanwhile, Sheoldred's life-gain triggers keep your life total high to fuel potent draw engines like Greed and Bolas's Citadel. To close out games, the deck leverages compounding draw damage, devastating spells like Peer into the Abyss, or a deterministic two-card infinite combo with Bloodthirsty Conqueror and Sanguine Bond (or Enduring Tenacity). The deck excels at creature removal and proactive hand disruption, though it lacks stack interaction and artifact or enchantment removal, requiring decisive timing to close games quickly.
