Smaug’s No Fly Zone by user8697252

Format: Commander

Commander: Bard, King of Dale

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Bard, King of Dale is the single-faced engine of this Azorius token/draw deck. His replacement ability makes every draw after the first a double draw and doubles all tokens, so each extra draw also floods the board. The primary plan is to resolve Bard, chain extra draws (Howling Mine, Rhystic Study, Faerie Mastermind, The One Ring), and let Minn, Alandra, Mischievous Mystic, and Homunculus Horde turn them into tokens. The secondary route is the Bard plus Smothering Tithe plus Faerie Mastermind treasure loop, with Court of Vantress copying tax enchantments, and Akroma's Will as the usual finisher. Commander dependence is moderate: the engine works without Bard, but much slower. Hidden-commander role is held by Bard, Heir of Girion as a support lord, not as the base.
