Deck overview

This deck is a high-synergy Simic tribal aggro-tempo engine led by Hakbal of the Surging Soul. The strategy revolves around casting low-cost Merfolk creatures in the early turns, deploying Hakbal on turn 3, and immediately triggering mass explore effects at combat. Exploring filters the library, fills the hand with extra lands, and places +1/+1 counters on the team to grow creatures rapidly. Hakbal's attack trigger accelerates mana further by dropping extra lands directly onto the battlefield. The deck turns this board presence into lethal combat damage using evasion enablers such as Herald of Secret Streams, Lord of Atlantis, and Master of the Pearl Trident, or closing with a massive Finale of Devastation. A premier interaction and protection suite—including Fierce Guardianship, Force of Will, Heroic Intervention, and Ripples of Potential—safeguards the board against sweepers and disrupts opposing win attempts while maintaining proactive mana efficiency.
