Deck overview

This mono-black deck centers on Gwenom, Remorseless, using her attack trigger to bypass mana costs by spending life on cards revealed from the top of the library. Gwenom's inherent lifelink and high-toughness lifegain payoffs like Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, Noxious Gearhulk, and South Wind Avatar offset the self-inflicted life loss. Acceleration consists of traditional black ramp pieces like Crypt Ghast and Thran Dynamo to establish a 5-mana commander on curve. The win condition combines Voltron pressure through powerful equipment like Excalibur, Sword of Eden and Aettir and Priwen with table-wide life loss effects from Archfiend of Despair and Gray Merchant of Asphodel. While the deck generates massive mana velocity once Gwenom attacks, its setup is telegraphic, relying on combat steps and vulnerable to well-timed creature removal.
