Deck overview

This deck is an Azorius control strategy led by Grand Arbiter Augustin IV that wins by locking down combat and resolving Approach of the Second Sun. The early game focuses on deploying 2-mana acceleration and landing Grand Arbiter to create an asymmetric mana disparity. It blankets the board in attack taxes such as Propaganda, Ghostly Prison, and Sphere of Safety, effectively preventing go-wide and aggressive decks from dealing damage. Meanwhile, asymmetric taxation and stax pieces like Aura of Silence, Thalia, Heretic Cathar, and Blind Obedience stifle opposing tempo. Once the battlefield is stabilized under counterspell protection and board wipes like Supreme Verdict, the deck tutors for Approach of the Second Sun. After casting Approach the first time, it leverages top-deck manipulation and draw engines like Scroll Rack and Brainstorm to rapidly retrieve and recast it on Turn 8 for the win.
