Deck overview

This is an Esper spell-slinging combo-control deck built around Y'shtola, Night's Blessed becoming a one-woman life-drain engine. Her two hooks work together: the commander both rewards opponents who lose 4+ life in a turn with a draw and turns every expensive noncreature spell into a repeatable Kambal, Consul of Allocation-style ping that also gains you life. The core recipe is to assemble an infinite life-drain loop with Sanguine Bond plus either Exquisite Blood or Bloodthirsty Conqueror, with Enduring Tenacity and Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose as flexible secondary "gain-life/opponent-loses-life" pieces. A dense tutor suite including Demonic Tutor, Vampiric Tutor, Enlightened Tutor, and the Emeritus of Woe // Demonic Tutor front half gives the deck high access to its combo halves, while Zur the Enchanter acts as a slower "hidden commander" that finds cheap enchantments. Fallbacks include Necropotence/Bolas's Citadel value and an endgame X spell in Exsanguinate.
