Deck overview

This deck is an Abzan lifegain and reanimator midrange engine helmed by Betor, Ancestor's Voice. The strategy revolves around dual-axis life manipulation: gaining life to distribute massive +1/+1 counters and losing life to recur powerful creatures directly from the graveyard to the battlefield. Early turns focus on ramping with mana fixers, establishing incidental lifegain triggers through cards like Soul Warden and Authority of the Consuls, and stocking the graveyard using self-mill or surveil. Once Betor enters the battlefield alongside life-loss outlets like pain lands, Talisman of Hierarchy, or Call of the Ring, the deck generates compounding board presence every end step. Mid-game transitions leverage asymmetric powerhouses such as Nykthos Paragon, Defiler of Vigor, and Beledros Witherbloom to assemble lethal flying beaters or drain opponents with Sanguine Bond and Exsanguinate. The deck balances offensive expansion with targeted removal and instant-speed protection, recovering swiftly from disruption through redundant graveyard recursion.
