Deck overview

This deck is a Rakdos group-slug strategy helmed by Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls. The game plan revolves around deploying inexpensive passive punishers that guarantee opponent life loss on each of their turns, such as Roiling Vortex, Underworld Dreams, and Razorkin Needlehead. Once Valgavoth enters the battlefield, each instance of turn-cycle life loss places a +1/+1 counter on the commander and draws a card, yielding up to three cards per turn cycle. This massive card flow fuels continuous deployment of heavy attrition pieces like Manabarbs, Painful Quandary, and Solphim, Mayhem Dominus. Opponents are forced into a dilemma where taking standard game actions drains their life totals rapidly while inflating Valgavoth into a lethal flying threat. The deck closes games around Turn 8 through a mix of lethal commander combat and amplified noncombat table burn.
