Azula - Power Hungry by zip799

Format: Commander

Commander: Fire Lord Azula

Bracket: 5

Deck overview

This is a Grixis spellslinger-combo deck helmed by Fire Lord Azula, a commander that generates mana on attack and copies spells cast during combat. The primary game plan is to assemble a deterministic two-card win via Thassa's Oracle + Demonic Consultation (or a similar self-mill line), using the deck's dense ritual package and high tutor density to accelerate into the combo. Secondary win conditions include Aetherflux Reservoir with a high spell count, and combat damage from firebending creatures amplified by copy effects. The deck leverages flash enablers (Vedalken Orrery, Borne Upon a Wind) to operate at instant speed, and the commander's copy ability can double rituals or removal for explosive turns. The deck is highly tutor-intensive, with eight tutors (including Demonic Tutor, Mystical Tutor, Muddle the Mixture, and Beseech the Mirror), and runs a low land count (24) compensated by rituals and rocks.
