Deck overview

This deck is an aggressive Izzet tempo and combat deck centered on Captain Howler, Sea Scourge. It leverages a dense suite of low-mana looting, rummaging, and discard effects to trigger Howler's power-boosting ability, turning cheap creatures into massive threats while drawing extra cards upon combat damage. Cards like Containment Construct, Conspiracy Theorist, and Inti, Seneschal of the Sun break parity on discard costs by allowing discarded spells to be cast from exile. Meanwhile, payoffs like Marauding Mako, Ivora, Insatiable Heir, and Glint-Horn Buccaneer scale power and damage alongside every discard action. The deck maintains tempo with efficient 1- and 2-mana interaction spells like Lightning Bolt, Memory Lapse, and An Offer You Can't Refuse to clear blockers and protect key threats. It aims to deploy early enablers, curve into the commander, and close the game through relentless, buffed combat pressure across Turns 5 through 8.
