Deck overview

This deck is a classic Mono-Black Big Mana Control deck helmed by Vilis, Broker of Blood. The game plan revolves around surviving early turns through a dense removal suite and efficient board wipes while systematically building a massive mana base using basic Swamps, artifact acceleration, and powerful land engines like Cabal Coffers and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth. Once sufficient mana is assembled on Turn 6, Vilis, Broker of Blood enters the battlefield as both a potent removal engine and a massive draw engine that converts every point of life lost into fresh cards. The massive influx of cards allows the pilot to sculpt a dominant hand, dig for protection spells, and fuel game-ending plays such as a massive Exsanguinate, Rise of the Dark Realms, or drain loops with Gray Merchant of Asphodel. While vulnerable to fast combo and countermagic, the deck excels at grinding out attrition-heavy pods.
