Deck overview

This mono-black control deck weaponizes library searches against opponents. Led by Ob Nixilis, Unshackled, the strategy turns mandatory or voluntary searches into devastating penalties, forcing players to sacrifice creatures and lose 10 life per search. Through forced search enablers like Maralen of the Mornsong, Mornsong Aria, and utility lands like Ghost Quarter and Field of Ruin, the deck converts routine game actions into lethal life loss. A comprehensive tutor suite provides reliable access to mana doublers like Cabal Coffers and Crypt Ghast, high-impact stax pieces like Cursed Totem and Winter Moon, and game-ending draw locks via Opposition Agent. The removal package efficiently clears opposing threats at instant speed, protecting life totals while Ob Nixilis grows into an overwhelming flying combat finisher. When creature combat is stalled, massive mana generation fuels decisive Torment of Hailfire casts.
