Deck overview

Auntie Ool, Cursewretch leads a Jund midrange attrition strategy engineered around -1/-1 counter synergies. The deck accelerates in the opening turns to deploy Auntie Ool alongside continuous counter generators such as Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons, Sinister Gnarlbark, and Soul Snuffers. Placing counters on friendly creatures yields deep card draw, while placing counters on opposing threats steadily drains enemy life totals and suppresses enemy boards. In the mid-to-late game, devastating asymmetric pieces like Carnifex Demon, Midnight Banshee, and Kulrath Knight systematically dismantle opposing creature development and freeze combat. Formidable finishers including Grave Titan and Avenger of Zendikar capitalize on cleared paths to eliminate opponents through combat damage, supported by a potent infinite loop between Blowfly Infestation and Hapatra. While the deck lacks countermagic against noncreature combo strategies, it excels at dominating creature-centric pods through relentless board control and card advantage.
