Deck overview

This deck is a high-synergy Golgari swarm and big-spell combo strategy commanded by Witherbloom, the Balancer. The deck focuses on developing early creature density using low-cost mana dorks and token engines like Chatterfang, Squirrel General, Sedgemoor Witch, and Scute Swarm. By establishing a wide creature board, the deck drastically reduces the cost of its commander to just {B}{G} using creature affinity. Once on the battlefield, Witherbloom, the Balancer grants all instant and sorcery spells affinity for creatures, turning high-cost spells into cheap powerhouses. Spells like Stinging Study draw 8 cards for a single black mana, Army of the Damned creates 13 Zombies for {B}{B}{B}, and Sprout Swarm loops infinitely with convoke to generate arbitrary tokens. The deck closes games swiftly on Turn 5 using overwhelming overrun effects like Craterhoof Behemoth, Finale of Devastation, Triumph of the Hordes, or massive life drains from Torment of Hailfire and Mirkwood Bats.
