Deck overview

This deck is a focused Simic Merfolk typal strategy led by Hakbal of the Surging Soul. It leverages early Merfolk creatures to establish a wide board presence that immediately compounds once Hakbal enters on turn 4. Hakbal's pre-combat explore triggers provide substantial card advantage by drawing lands and filtering draws while growing creatures with +1/+1 counters. The deck accelerates its mana base by dropping extra lands into play through Hakbal and Nicanzil, Current Conductor. As the board state scales, the primary win condition manifests through overwhelming unblockable combat damage enabled by Herald of Secret Streams, Master of the Pearl Trident, or a one-sided bounce spell like Wave Goodbye. The deck incorporates layered protection spells such as Heroic Intervention and Ripples of Potential to preserve its board state against sweepers, relying on consistent synergy and explosive combat power rather than infinite combos.
