Commander: Zaxara, the Exemplary

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a Sultai Zaxara, the Exemplary X-spell and +1/+1 counters midrange deck. The core plan is to ramp into Zaxara, then cast spells with {X} in their costs to flood the board with increasingly large Hydra tokens while the X-permanents themselves (Hydras, Walking Ballista, Hydroid Krasis) enter as immediate threats. Counter multipliers such as Doubling Season, Branching Evolution, Hardened Scales, Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider, and Unbound Flourishing turn modest X values into enormous bodies. Primary wins come from trampling combat damage and a large Exsanguinate; Walking Ballista and copied X-draw spells provide alternate reach. Zaxara itself is a two-mana rock and the token engine, but the 99 still functions as a self-contained X-goodstuff pile when the commander is unavailable.
