Deck overview

This deck is an Azorius control and token swarm strategy commanded by Elminster. The primary game plan revolves around leveraging cheap scry effects to filter draws, manipulate the top card of the library, and discount massive instant and sorcery spells. Once Elminster enters the battlefield on Turn 5, he uses his loyalty abilities to draw cards, scry, and exile high-mana-value spells like Storm Herd, Expropriate, or Dig Through Time from the top of the library to create a lethal swarm of flying Faerie Dragons. The deck protects its setup using an efficient counterspell suite featuring Dovin's Veto, Counterspell, and Swan Song, alongside defensive walls like Wall of Denial. Backup token generators such as Talrand, Sky Summoner and Shark Typhoon ensure the deck can flood the board even if the commander is removed. Games conclude on Turn 8 through wide aerial combat backed by anthems or extra turns.
