Deck overview

This deck is a classic Mono-Black Aristocrats and Big Mana build helmed by Avacyn, Angel of Horror. While Avacyn provides a massive 8/8 flying deathtouch body and an asymmetric end-step reanimation engine for nontoken creatures, the core of the deck functions independently through synergistic sacrifice loops and mana doublers. Early turns prioritize establishing mana through pieces like Sol Ring, Arcane Signet, and Crypt Ghast, quickly bridging into card-flow engines like Black Market Connections and Yawgmoth, Thran Physician. In the midgame, the deck leverages mass edicts, board wipes, and life-drain engines featuring Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Syr Konrad, the Grim, and Mirkwood Bats. It closes games by generating overwhelming resource disparities with Living Death, locking creature boards with Grave Pact, or casting game-ending X-spells like Torment of Hailfire. Its chief liabilities are vulnerability to graveyard hate and an inability to remove problem artifacts or enchantments.
