Deck overview

This Golgari deck harnesses Blech, Loafing Pest to convert repeatable lifegain into escalating +1/+1 counters across a diverse kindred swarm of Pests, Bats, Insects, Snakes, and Spiders. The deck accelerates in the early turns with efficient ramp spells like Nature's Lore and Farseek, deploying Blech, Loafing Pest on Turn 3. It then establishes token engines such as Blight Mound, Beledros Witherbloom, and Iridescent Hornbeetle. Every lifegain trigger from sources like Essence Warden, Bastion of Remembrance, and Prosperous Innkeeper distributes counters across the entire swarm. The deck applies dual-axis pressure: overwhelming combat damage with buffed menace and deathtouch creatures, backed by relentless aristocrat life drain from Mirkwood Bats, Funeral Room // Awakening Hall, and The Meathook Massacre. Supported by premium Golgari removal and burst draw like Plumb the Forbidden and Skullclamp, the deck achieves a reliable must-answer onset by Turn 6 and closes out the table around Turn 8.
