Deck overview

The Mycotyrant leads a synergistic Golgari graveyard deck focused on self-mill, descend triggers, and go-wide aristocrats strategies. The deck aims to quickly stock the graveyard using efficient mill creatures and dredge engines like Golgari Grave-Troll and Stinkweed Imp. Once the commander enters the battlefield, each permanent card entering the graveyard triggers descend, generating an expanding army of 1/1 Fungus creature tokens each end step while simultaneously growing The Mycotyrant into a massive trampling threat. The deck translates this board presence into victory along two parallel axes: overwhelming combat damage fueled by mass pump effects like Beastmaster Ascension, or non-combat life drain through aristocrat engines including Mirkwood Bats, Nadier's Nightblade, and Syr Konrad, the Grim combined with free sacrifice outlets like Ashnod's Altar. While vulnerable to mass graveyard exile and sweepers, the list features strong engine recovery through recursive spells like Dread Return and Squirming Emergence.
