Deck overview

This deck uses Ashnod the Uncaring to copy activated abilities that sacrifice permanents. Its best ordinary engine sacrifices artifacts such as Mind Stone, Commander's Sphere, Aether Spellbomb, or Time Sieve for doubled cards, removal, or extra-turn effects. Goblin Welder, Goblin Engineer, Emry, Lurker of the Loch, Scrap Trawler, and Myr Retriever recover the artifacts, while Marionette Apprentice, Marionette Master, Mayhem Devil, Reckless Fireweaver, and Oni-Cult Anvil turn those sacrifices into pressure. Acceleration is solid, and the deck has broad stack and permanent interaction. Its main problem is that the commander costs five mana and the strongest payoff, Time Sieve, still needs five artifacts for each activation. Ashnod the Uncaring copies the activation but does not copy its sacrifice cost. The result is a strong casual-to-high-power value shell, not a reliable combo or competitive Commander deck.
