Deck overview

This deck is a Dimir control and tribal deck commanded by Vren, the Relentless. Its core strategy revolves around deploying Vren on turn 3, then systematically exiling opposing creatures using an extensive suite of low-cost removal spells, edicts, and one-sided sweepers. At each end step, Vren converts these exiled threats into scaling Rat tokens that grow in power for every Rat on the battlefield. The deck turns defensive control plays into offensive tempo, creating a rapidly expanding army of high-power Rats that overwhelm opponents through combat. Efficient 1–2 CMC mana rocks ensure reliable early setup, while cheap counterspells and 1-mana protection spells defend Vren from removal. While vulnerable to mass exile sweepers and reliant on combat steps to finish games across multiple rotations, the deck's constant graveyard suppression and asymmetric creature attrition make it an oppressive midrange force.
