Commander: Satoru Umezawa

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Helmed by Satoru Umezawa, this is a Dimir "cheat fatties" deck built entirely around ninjutsu. The core plan is to drop a one-mana unblockable creature, untap, then activate Satoru's ability to put an expensive bomb into play tapped and attacking - cards like Jin-Gitaxias, Progress Tyrant, Hullbreaker Horror, Lord of the Void, and Massacre Wurm become effectively free while dodging conventional counterspells. Satoru's own trigger restocks your hand, while Satoru, the Infiltrator, Grazilaxx, Illithid Scholar, and various Ninja support pieces turn every attack into card advantage. Theft effects such as Fallen Shinobi, Silent-Blade Oni, and Chancellor of the Spires let the deck borrow wins from opponents. It is fundamentally a value/tempo deck: the only infinite-engine line in the list lacks a dedicated outlet, so most games are won through repeated evasive combat damage and incremental card advantage.
