Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black attrition and resource-denial strategy commanded by Tergrid, God of Fright. The game plan revolves around accelerating mana early to cast Tergrid alongside symmetrical discard or sacrifice spells like Dark Deal, Delirium Skeins, and Plaguecrafter. When these spells resolve, Tergrid immediately steals all discarded and sacrificed permanent cards directly onto your battlefield, triggering an unrecoverable resource disparity. Persistent enchantments such as Oppression, Bottomless Pit, and Necrogen Mists keep opposing hands empty and suppress opposing game plans. Even when Tergrid is targeted, secondary engines like Waste Not, Tinybones, Trinket Thief, and Geth's Grimoire capitalize on forced discard to generate tokens, mana, and cards, while Torment of Hailfire and Gray Merchant of Asphodel serve as massive late-game finishers fueled by Cabal Coffers and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx.
