Deck overview

Szarel, Genesis Shepherd leads a Jund midrange deck that combines lands-matter recursion, permanent sacrifice, and +1/+1 counter distribution. The primary engine uses Szarel to replay lands directly from the graveyard, turning fetchlands, cycling lands, and sacrifice lands into steady mana fixing and creature buffs. Redundant recursion pieces such as Conduit of Worlds, Ramunap Excavator, and Life from the Loam ensure that the graveyard acts as an extended hand. The deck transitions into the late game by resolving large landfall payoffs like Avenger of Zendikar, Titania, Protector of Argoth, and Omnath, Locus of Rage, generating wide token armies that threaten lethal damage by Turn 7. Kills are closed out across two combat rotations using extra combats from Moraug, Fury of Akoum, direct burn from All Will Be One, or table-wide life drain from Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord. While light on cheap instant interaction, the deck features resilient engine recovery.
