Deck overview

Maralen, Fae Ascendant commands a Sultai typal midrange deck that blends Elves and Faeries to generate card advantage, exile opposing resources, and swarm the battlefield. Early turns focus on establishing a low-cost creature curve with token generators like Bitterblossom and mana dorks like Bloom Tender. Casting Maralen on Turn 5 activates an exile engine, casting stolen spells for free scaled to your Elf and Faerie count. As the board widens, the deck transitions into lethal pressure around Turn 7 using mass pump effects from End-Raze Forerunners, token doubling via Kindred Summons, or direct life loss from Lathril, Blade of the Elves. While the deck features strong flash interaction and stack defense through Spellstutter Sprite and Counterspell, its reliance on tapped lands creates tempo friction. Mass board wipes present a significant threat to its wide creature footprint, though recursion spells like Bloodline Bidding ensure steady mid-game recovery.
