Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black stax and board control build centered around Maha, Its Feathers Night. Maha sets the base toughness of all opposing creatures to 1, turning any global -1/-1 static effect, pinger, or minor sweeper into a one-sided, catastrophic board wipe. Key lock pieces like Night of Souls' Betrayal, Kaervek, the Spiteful, and Caltrops completely shut down opposing creature-based game plans by killing opposing creatures immediately upon entering the battlefield or attacking. The deck leverages heavy redundancy in -1/-1 effects alongside mono-black staples like Toxic Deluge, The Meathook Massacre, and Massacre Wurm. Once the asymmetric lock is established on Turn 5, the deck transitions into a closing clock via combat damage from Maha, reanimation from Gisa, Glorious Resurrector, and life-drain engines like Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Vein Ripper, and Sheoldred, the Apocalypse.
