Format: Commander

Commander: Durnan of the Yawning Portal and Noble Heritage

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This Selesnya deck leverages the unique pairing of Durnan of the Yawning Portal and the Noble Heritage Background to create a combat-driven value engine. Durnan attacks to exile high-impact creatures from the top of your library, then casts them at drastically reduced mana thanks to undaunted (down to {1} per opponent). Noble Heritage provides political protection and incremental +1/+1 counter growth on your commanders. The deck packs a dense tutor suite - including Captain Sisay for legendary permanents, Enlightened Tutor for artifacts/enchantments, and multiple creature/land tutors - to find key pieces like Craterhoof Behemoth for an overrun finish or Aetherflux Reservoir for a life-gain kill. Secondary value engines such as Sythis, Harvest's Hand and Beast Whisperer keep the hand full, while Sterling Grove protects enchantments and tutors for more. The overall plan is ramp, deploy Durnan, attack for value, then overwhelm the board with cheaply-cast monsters.
