Deck overview

This deck is an Izzet Dragon tribal midrange strategy commanded by Sarkhan, Soul Aflame. The game plan focuses on casting Sarkhan on Turn 3, using his cost reduction to deploy large Dragon threats ahead of curve, and copying them on entry to overwhelm opponents with duplicated combat triggers and aerial power. Key threats like Lathliss, Dragon Queen, Desert Were-Worm, and Smaug the Magnificent generate rapid board presence, additional combat phases, and Treasure velocity. The deck backs up its aggressive flying attacks with asymmetric removal like Desolation of Smaug and Cyclonic Rift, alongside a lethal mana sink in Crackle with Power. While the list features minimal proactive taxation and light stack protection, its high threat density, resilient recovery, and explosive damage output allow it to establish critical board pressure on Turn 5 and reliably close out games by Turn 7.
