Deck overview

This deck is a Rakdos midrange strategy commanded by Smaug the Impenetrable. The primary game plan revolves around ramping into Smaug, leveraging his indestructible body and haste to apply immediate pressure, and triggering his ability with noncombat damage effects like Blasphemous Act, Desolation of Smaug, and Pestilence. Damaging Smaug produces massive bursts of Treasure tokens, fueling game-ending mana sinks such as Exsanguinate, alternate win conditions like Revel in Riches and Hellkite Tyrant, or attrition burn via Mayhem Devil and Havoc Jester. The deck excels at wiping opposing creature boards while maintaining its commander on the battlefield. However, because it relies on a high-CMC commander and contains limited stack protection and enchantment removal, it is vulnerable to targeted exile spells, countermagic, and fast noncreature combo strategies.
