Deck overview

This deck leverages Rakdos, Lord of Riots to convert direct opponent life loss into massive mana discounts for high-cost Eldrazi and Demons. In the early game, low-cost damage sources such as Spear Spewer, Creeping Bloodsucker, and Sanctum of Stone Fangs guarantee that opponents lose life each turn, satisfying Rakdos's casting requirement on Turn 3 or 4. Once Rakdos attacks, the resulting life loss reduces the generic mana costs of creature spells by 6 to 12 or more. This allows you to flood the battlefield with terrifying threats like Kozilek, Butcher of Truth, Void Winnower, Ulamog, the Defiler, and Archfiend of Despair for nearly zero mana. These creatures lock down opposing plays, destroy permanents via Annihilator, and close the game out rapidly through overwhelming combat damage and life loss doubling.
