Deck overview

This deck is an Esper spellslinger control deck commander by Saruman of Many Colors. It combines efficient mana rocks and cheap cantrips to trigger Saruman's ability reliably on each of your turns, milling opponents and casting their best instants, sorceries, and enchantments for free. The deck supports this theft strategy with proactive mill pieces like Maddening Cacophony and Tasha's Hideous Laughter, converting milled cards into resources or direct life loss via Bloodchief Ascension and Duskmantle Guildmage. Secondary token engines like Lord of the Nazgûl, Talrand, Sky Summoner, and Saruman the White turn every cheap spell into a growing board presence. Defensively, the deck runs dense, low-cost removal, flexible countermagic, and targeted hate pieces like Lavinia, Azorius Renegade and Crawlspace to suppress fast combo and go-wide aggro while steering the game toward a decisive Turn 9 finish.
