Deck overview

Vren, the Relentless commands a Dimir control and Rat tribal deck that converts symmetrical sacrifice and removal into overwhelming board dominance. Vren replaces all opposing creature deaths with exile, completely shutting down death triggers, aristocrat strategies, and graveyard recursion while fueling his end-step token creation. Packing over eighteen sacrifice and removal spells—from Liliana's Triumph and Accursed Marauder to asymmetric sweepers like Crippling Fear and Swarmyard Massacre—the deck repeatedly strips opposing boards while amassing Relentless Rat tokens that scale in power with every Rat in play. These tokens quickly present lethal combat threats backed by tribal payoffs like Marrow-Gnawer, Valley Rotcaller, and Ayara, First of Locthwain. Supported by countermagic protection and steady card draw from engines like Kindred Discovery, the deck systematically grinds opponents out before executing a decisive combat finish.
