Smaug Mono Red by user4341760

Format: Commander

Commander: Smaug the Magnificent

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a mono-red Treasure deck built around Smaug the Magnificent as both a ramp payoff and an attack-triggered burn spell. The primary plan is to generate a large Treasure count, then use Smaug's haste and attack trigger to convert those Treasures into direct damage. Goldspan Dragon, Xorn, Ancient Copper Dragon, Brass's Bounty, and Roaming Throne turn normal token production into explosive bursts. Secondary paths lean on Dwarf/saga synergies, Magda tutoring artifacts or Dragons, and There and Back Again as a hidden Smaug that can die for fourteen Treasures. The commander should be cast early: his upkeep token is part of the engine, but the deck can still run through Dragon-heavy threats if Smaug is removed.
