Deck overview

Codie, Ravenous Codex leads an explosive five-color Spellslinger Storm deck centered around the prepare mechanic and Magecraft triggers. By casting creatures with prepare spells, the deck allows Codie to duplicate those spells when cast, generating incredible mana and card velocity for low investment. Early turns establish mana fixing and deploy Codie on Turn 3. On Turns 4 and 5, anchors like Storm-Kiln Artist, Archmage Emeritus, and Veyran, Voice of Duality convert copied prepare spells—such as Emeritus of Ideation (Ancestral Recall) and Emeritus of Woe (Demonic Tutor)—into massive card draw and Treasure generation. The deck reaches critical lethality on Turn 5, closing the game in a single turn through Witherbloom Apprentice drain triggers or copied Exsanguinate spells. Supported by efficient countermagic, free protection spells, and split-second locks from Samut, Tyrant of Naktamun, the deck executes a resilient and compact storm finish.
