Deck overview

This Azorius deck leverages Dragonlord Ojutai at the helm of a flying-tribal and midrange-control strategy. In the opening turns, the deck develops its mana using efficient artifact ramp and deploys low-cost evasive creatures. Dragonlord Ojutai provides consistent card selection through its combat damage trigger, digging three cards deep to find answers, anthems, or win conditions. The deck scales its damage output using wide aerial pumps such as Gravitational Shift, Favorable Winds, and Steel-Plume Marshal to quickly pressure life totals. In addition to aerial combat, Approach of the Second Sun provides an alternate path to victory. A robust suite of interaction—including Swords to Plowshares, Counterspell, and Cyclonic Rift—keeps opposing proactive strategies in check, while defensive tools like Sephara, Sky's Blade, Angelic Guardian, and Rally of Wings shield key permanents from removal and board wipes.
