Deck overview

This Izzet spellslinger deck is built around Niv-Mizzet, Visionary, converting noncombat burn into massive card draw. The main plan is to cast the commander, keep a pinger like Guttersnipe or Fiery Inscription on board, and chain instants and sorceries into a critical mass of cards and damage. The hidden commander is Niv-Mizzet, Parun; he pairs with Curiosity, Ophidian Eye, or Tandem Lookout to create an infinite damage loop and is the primary finisher. Backup wins come from copy engines such as Thousand-Year Storm and Swarm Intelligence, token makers, and Ojer Axonil amplifying pings. Without Visionary the deck can still grind through burn creatures and draw spells, but it is significantly faster once she remains on board.
