Smoldering Smaug take 2 by Cain1307

Format: Commander

Commander: Smaug the Impenetrable

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

This is a Rakdos Treasure-control deck built around Smaug the Impenetrable as a reusable damage-to-Treasure engine. The primary plan is to cast Smaug, enchant/equip it with Dizzying Gaze or Pain for All, and repeatedly deal 1 noncombat damage to it to create Treasures while draining the table. Secondary paths use Pestilence/Pyrohemia as repeatable pings, Magda to tutor Dragons/artifacts, and X-spells (Torment of Hailfire, Exsanguinate, Crackle with Power) as mana sinks. Smaug the Magnificent acts as a hidden commander in the 99, providing an upkeep Treasure and a Treasure-count attack trigger. The commander's indestructible, hasty 8/7 body also closes games in the air.
