Deck overview

This deck is an aggressive Izzet tempo and burn strategy helmed by Captain Howler, Sea Scourge. The primary plan pairs cheap, unblockable creatures such as Slither Blade and Invisible Stalker with high-volume discard spells and wheel effects like Windfall, Tolarian Winds, and Change of Fortune. Whenever cards are discarded, Captain Howler grants massive power buffs to an unblockable attacker while refilling your hand when combat damage connects. The deck converts high card velocity into lethal table damage using secondary burn outlets including Chandra's Ignition, Glint-Horn Buccaneer, Cool but Rude, and Fateful Showdown. A solid suite of low-cost mana rocks ensures consistent turn-4 deployment of the commander, while efficient countermagic and redirection spells protect key combat steps. The deck delivers rapid single-target eliminations and pivots into explosive burn finishes to close out the table by turn 7.
