Deck overview

This Orzhov deck is commanded by Kambal, Consul of Allocation and leverages lifegain engines, taxing enchantments, and Demon synergies to control the pace of play. Early turns focus on deploying cheap defensive pieces like Authority of the Consuls, Soul Warden, and Blind Obedience, which pad the life total while deterring aggressive combat. The mid-game develops steady card advantage through permanents like Black Market Connections, Phyrexian Arena, and Dark Confidant. Rather than relying on combat damage to eliminate three opponents, the deck builds toward upkeep alternate win conditions via Test of Endurance and Liliana's Contract. A deep suite of spot removal keeps opposing commanders and problematic engines in check. While the deck boasts resilient life totals and versatile removal, it carries light acceleration and relies on passing the turn with exposed enchantments to seal victory.
