Deck overview

This monoblack deck operates under an extreme thematic deckbuilding constraint: every single nonland card in the 99 and the command zone costs exactly one mana ({B} or {1}). Commanded by Ashnod, Flesh Mechanist, the deck deploys a 1-drop creature on Turn 1 and follows with Ashnod on Turn 2, sacrificing recurring creatures on attack to generate tapped Powerstone tokens. These Powerstones provide colorless mana acceleration to pay for activated abilities, equipment, and Ashnod's {5} token-creation ability to produce 3/3 Zombie artifact creatures. The win condition centers on going wide with recursive 1-drops, Zombie tokens, and buffed threats like Tarrian's Soulcleaver and Cultist of the Absolute. Due to the 1-CMC restriction, the deck lacks conventional ramp, tutors, and high-impact finishers, relying entirely on high density, low curve efficiency, and grindy combat math.
