Deck overview

This deck is a resilient Grixis Midrange strategy built around Sauron, the Dark Lord. It leverages an oppressive Army-amassing trigger that punishes opponents for casting spells, converting combat damage into a repeatable pseudo-wheel engine via the Ring Tempts mechanic. The deck integrates a compact, high-quality reanimator package featuring devastating targets like Archon of Cruelty, Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur, and Razaketh, the Foulblooded, alongside a dedicated nine-card Nazgûl suite that rapidly inflates Wraith boards. Mana acceleration is dense and efficient, enabling a Turn 4 Sauron deployment that immediately seizes the board. Opponents face immense attrition from asymmetric engines like Archfiend of Ifnir, Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, and Grave Pact, which dismantle creatures and hands simultaneously. While the deck lacks an instant two-card infinite combo, its evasive combat clock, ward protection, and explosive reanimation lines provide inevitable lethal finishes across late mid-game turns.
