Commander: Sahir, Visitor in Darkness

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a mono-black "pay life" value engine helmed by Sahir, Visitor in Darkness, whose eminence pings you for 1 each upkeep and whose trigger grows him whenever you lose exactly 1 life - drawing a card on the second trigger each turn. The entire 99 is built to feed that trigger: Phyrexian Arena, Bitterblossom, Necropotence, Black Market Connections, K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth, and a suite of pain lands all convert life into cards, mana, and commander counters. The primary win conditions are the infinite life-drain loops of Exquisite Blood with Bloodthirsty Conqueror or Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, plus the self-mill victory of Doctor Doom, Unrivaled once Vilis, Broker of Blood or Necropotence empties the library. Secondary drains - Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Exsanguinate, The Meathook Massacre - close out games when the combo is disrupted.
