Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov lifegain control build commanded by Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel. It leverages high life totals as an expendable resource and card-drawing engine. The early turns focus on developing mana through mana rocks and consistent land drops, supplemented by early utility engines like Black Market Connections and Phyrexian Arena. Once the commander enters the battlefield, any life gain converts directly into card advantage, allowing the deck to draw deep into its library. The deck aims to win through two main avenues: life-threshold victory cards such as Felidar Sovereign and Test of Endurance, or lethal drain engines including the two-card infinite combo of Exquisite Blood and Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose. Supported by creature removal like Toxic Deluge and Swords to Plowshares, the deck controls the board until it can safely execute its game-ending payoffs.
