Deck overview

This deck is a Gruul Werewolf tribal aggro strategy commanded by Tovolar, Dire Overlord // Tovolar, the Midnight Scourge. The main plan deploys low-cost Wolves and Werewolves during the opening turns, curves into Tovolar on turn 3 or 4, and attacks to draw cards and establish three Wolf permanents. At the beginning of the next upkeep, Tovolar automatically forces Night, flipping all Human Werewolves into their larger, high-impact Nightbound forms. The deck then uses tribal anthem effects like Howlpack Resurgence and Mayor of Avabruck, token generators such as Tovolar's Huntmaster, and Tovolar's paid trample-pump ability to eliminate opponents through wide combat damage. Disruptive artifacts and enchantments like Blood Moon, Winter Orb, and Cursed Totem provide incidental stax that hinders opponents while the pack maintains board dominance.
