Deck overview

This Meren of Clan Nel Toth deck is a classic Golgari aristocrats and reanimation deck designed to grind out opponents through continuous resource attrition. In the early game, the deck accelerates its mana and fills the graveyard using self-mill creatures such as Stitcher's Supplier and Satyr Wayfinder. Once Meren enters the battlefield, she converts sacrifice outlets into experience counters and reanimates key utility creatures during each end step for zero mana. The deck controls the board by repeatedly recurring edict creatures like Plaguecrafter and Fleshbag Marauder or fogging combat with Spore Frog. As the graveyard grows, massive drain effects from Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Kokusho, the Evening Star, and Syr Konrad, the Grim quickly deplete opposing life totals, culminating in a table-wide wipe or Living Death swing. The deck boasts exceptional recovery because experience counters remain on the player even if Meren is removed.
