Doran Butts by Manbeard

Format: Commander

Commander: Doran, Besieged by Time

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is an Abzan toughness-matters midrange deck helmed by Doran, Besieged by Time. The plan floods the board with high-toughness creatures-Treefolk, Walls, and bulky utility bodies-then converts that toughness into combat damage and life-drain payoffs. Doran discounts every creature spell with toughness greater than power and pumps attackers and blockers by the P/T gap, turning modest bodies into serious threats. Redundant toughness-as-power enablers (Assault Formation, Felothar the Steadfast, Baldin, Century Herdmaster, Huatli, the Sun's Heart) keep the combat plan online even when Doran is answered. Secondary angles include life-gain engines (Trostani, Selesnya's Voice, Ikra Shidiqi, the Usurper, Rhox Faithmender) feeding drain and recursion via Betor, Ancestor's Voice and South Wind Avatar, plus a late Betor, Kin to All half-life finisher once total toughness crosses 40. There are no infinite combos; the deck wins through attrition combat and incremental drain.
