Deck overview

This Azorius deck is an engine-driven control and combo deck commanded by Volo, Itinerant Scholar and the Folk Hero background. The core strategy establishes an early card-advantage engine by casting creatures with distinct types, noting them in Volo's Journal, and drawing cards every turn cycle. Dense low-cost acceleration and stax pieces such as Lavinia, Azorius Renegade, Aven Mindcensor, and Blind Obedience slow down opponent development while tax creatures like Esper Sentinel and Archivist of Oghma draw additional cards. Once the deck accumulates a critical mass of resources around Turn 6, it protects its turn using Silence, Grand Abolisher, or Teferi, Time Raveler before executing an infinite loop with Displacer Kitten and Teferi or Hullbreaker Horror and mana rocks. The deck finishes on the same turn via Thassa's Oracle or infinite Blind Obedience extort triggers.
