Deck overview

This Gruul deck is led by Kibo, Uktabi Prince. It combines aggressive Ape and Monkey tribal beatdown with punishing artifact destruction. The core strategy revolves around giving opponents Banana tokens, then forcing their sacrifice or destroying them to trigger Kibo's ability. Each destroyed artifact places +1/+1 counters on all Apes and Monkeys you control. The deck rapidly scales creature power using counter multipliers like Branching Evolution and Doubling Season. It provides evasion through trample enablers like Garruk's Uprising and Kodama of the West Tree. Simultaneously, dense artifact removal cards such as Meltdown, Gorilla Shaman, and Bane of Progress dismantle opposing mana rocks, equipment, and treasure tokens. Alternative win conditions include Bloodroot Apothecary, which deals poison counters when opponents sacrifice tokens, and a hard lock using Karn, the Great Creator with Mycosynth Lattice. The deck presents a formidable combat clock by Turn 5 and closes the game around Turn 7.
