[V5.5] Thalia & the Gitrog Monster

Format: Commander

Commander: Thalia and The Gitrog Monster

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Thalia and The Gitrog Monster is an Abzan landfall-stax deck that uses the commander's extra land drop and attack-triggered draw to fuel lands-matter and aristocrats engines. The Gitrog Monster in the 99 acts as a hidden commander, turning sacrificed lands into cards, while Field of the Dead, Scute Swarm, and Emeria Angel build a board. The deck pivots into compact loops: Food/Familiar recursion with Samwise Gamgee and Carrion Feeder/Viscera Seer, or land-recursion loops with Aftermath Analyst, Amulet of Vigor, Squandered Resources, and Shifting Woodland. Sephiroth is a utility finisher whose front side draws and drains, then transforms into a flying lethal threat. The usual win is infinite-ish drain from Cat/Food loops, sustained zombie tokens, or landfall beatdown.
